Promotional Statement

Within the story of baseball lies one of the most shameful chapters in American history. Shut out from the game by a "gentlemen's agreement," black men, for the simple love of the game, began an incredible journey through pain, joy, suffering, and celebration that would last six decades.

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) takes you along on that journey - from the moment the
lights dim in the Grandstand Theatre until you have earned the right to "take the field."

Thousands of players and hundreds of teams finally receive the recognition, respect, and admiration they earned on the
field at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Founded in 1990, the world's only museum dedicated to preserving the history of Negro Leagues Baseball moved to its present 10,000 sq. ft., multi-media display home in
1997.

The museum has 15 state-of-the-art interactive computer stations that allow visitors to gain and test their knowledge of Negro Leagues history. Additionally, the facility features 12 life-sized bronze sculptures of Negro League legends and contains an expanded gift shop featuring a wide range of officially licensed NLBM merchandise.
