Promotional Statement

The LA84 Foundation's legacy of the 1984 Olympic Games, is
committed to assisting the efforts of individuals and organizations that serve youth through sport. Through grant making, innovative sports programs, a national recognized coach education program, and the internationally respected Paul Ziffren Sports Resource Center Library, the
AAF is continually striving to ensure that as many Southern California youngsters as possible have the opportunity to enrich their lives through sport.

The Paul Ziffren Sports Resource Center houses one the world's most comprehensive collections of sport information. The AAF library collection covers virtually all aspects of amateur and professional
sport. It includes approximately 40,000 printed volumes, 6,000 microform volumes, 7,000 videos, 400 periodical titles, and 90,000 photo images.

The LA84 Foundation owns a sizable collection of sport related art and
artifacts. The collection consists primarily of works on paper, lithographs, offset prints, and several paintings and pieces of sculpture. Much of the collection comprises Olympic Games, International Olympic
Committee, and Pan American Games posters. Several pieces using sport images are indicative of the evolution of poster design.

The collection of sports artifacts and memorabilia covers a wide range of sports. Football, basketball, baseball, boxing, auto racing, and yachting are a few of the sports represented in the collection. The Foundation also
has a large collection of Olympic Games memorabilia dating from 1896, the year of the first modern Olympic Games. Many objects come from the Los Angles Olympic Games of 1932 and 1984.
