Promotional Statement
Founded in 1980 to promote the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, ISHFOM is in its 26th year. It was
located in Orange County in the Los Angeles area for 10 years and then relocated to Oregon. ISHFOM is dedicated to sports and the Olympic Movement and displays a collection of over 22,000 artifacts from the 1896 Olympic
Games to the present. The collection was started by Eric Nash who attended the 1936 winter and summer games in Germany when he was 10 years old. He has collected Olympic artifacts and memorabilia for the last 70 years by attending most of the Olympic Games.
ISHFOM honors gold medalists that excelled during past Olympics with plaques on the museum's "Wall of
Champions" and by displays. We stress and emphasize to young visitors the virtues of competitive sports, the importance of completing their education,
and maintaining a healthy body free of drugs and excessive
alcohol.
The museum displays an impressive collection of Olympic torches, medals, badges, pins and pin sets, diplomas, posters, uniforms, team patches and much more from over 100 years of the Olympic Games. It is constantly growing through new purchases and the exchange of duplicate items. ISHFOM is the only International Olympic Museum open to the public in the U.S.
The museum is solely supported by the Nash Family, but with Eric Nash being 80 years old, we are looking for sponsors,
organizations or sports museums interested in the collection and opening a museum in a larger city than the present location on the Oregon Coast.
