ISHA Unveils New ISHY Award at Annual Conference

The International Sports Heritage Association unveiled their new ISHY award for the Annual Communications Award Competition, which annually recognizes excellence in the publications of member institutions, at their Annual Conference at the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum in Oakville, ON.

The ISHY, a beautiful, blue trophy in the shape of a flame, is reminiscent of the Association’s red and blue logo.  The ISHY was presented to the winners in nine categories of competition, including books or exhibit catalogues, programs, newsletters, brochures, educational programming materials, video presentations, websites, electronic marketing, and mixed media.  Categories are also divided into two budgets levels – institutions with budgets greater than $250,000 and institutions with budgets less than $250,000.

The 2011 Communication Awards competition had a record of more than 50 entries.  ISHY’s were awarded to the National Art Museum of Sport, Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, College Baseball Hall of Fame, National Sports Museum (Australia), World Golf Hall of Fame, Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, San Diego Hall of Champions, Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, British Columbia Golf House Society, USGA Museum, and The Hall at Patriot Place.

In another first, conference delegates had the opportunity to vote on their favorite of the First Place and Honorable Mention award winners.  A "Best in Show" blue ribbon was awarded to the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame for their very attractive Tour Guide.  Applications for the 2012 Communication Awards competition will be available in the spring.
